History/ ≈ 25 min from the villas
Rhodes Old Town
A living medieval town inside its walls, 25 minutes from the villas.

The Old Town of Rhodes is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It isn't a museum: people still live, shop and eat in its stone lanes, inside walls the Knights of St John built six centuries ago.
Don't miss
- The Street of the Knights, a cobbled lane of the knights' inns, largely unchanged since the 1500s
- The Palace of the Grand Master at the top of it
- A walk along the dry moat, below the walls
- Mandraki harbour, where bronze deer stand on the columns at its mouth, near where the Colossus is said to have stood
- The Jewish Quarter and the Kahal Shalom synagogue, the oldest in Greece

Where to eat
The main squares are busy and pricey. Walk a few lanes south, into the quieter residential quarter, to find tavernas where locals eat.
Good to know
Go in the late afternoon and stay for dinner. Park outside the walls and walk in through one of the gates.
