Thari Monastery
An old monastery in the forest, its church covered in frescoes.
Deep in the pine forest south of Laerma, the monastery of the Archangel Michael at Thari is one of the oldest on Rhodes. It's a working monastery again today, with monks living and farming here.
The church
Inside the small domed church, the walls are covered in frescoes, painted in several layers over the centuries. The light is low, so give your eyes a minute.
